Before the 2024 election gets going in earnest, campaign finance experts from Campaign Legal Center and Brennan Center for Justice examine the current state of the Federal Election Commission (FEC), its importance for transparency, its current shortcomings and what we would like to see change with the Commission moving forward.
The FEC is responsible for enforcing the laws that govern the federal campaign finance system, including all campaigns for president and Congress. To reduce political corruption, we need a strong FEC to enforce campaign finance laws and hold political candidates and their donors accountable.
