Friend, clean water is essential to our lives. But emergencies of all kinds—such as earthquakes or violent conflict—can cut off someone’s access to clean water and have serious consequences on their health.
Climate change is also jeopardizing clean water access for communities affected by extreme weather such as prolonged droughts and floods. That's why Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provides clean water for people in crisis and also supports infrastructure designed to improve long-term access.
On World Water Day, take our quiz to learn more about clean water access around the world—and how MSF is responding. Simply hover your cursor over an answer box and it’ll tell you if you’re correct!
By how much has Lake Chad—a vital resource shared by Chad, Niger, Nigeria, and Cameroon—shrunk over the past 60 years?
How many liters of clean drinking water has MSF provided to people affected by extreme flooding in the Balochistan province of Pakistan?
Clean water prevents waterborne diseases, sustains livelihoods, and saves lives. That’s why it’s so important to protect people’s access to water, especially when an emergency strikes.
Supporters like you help MSF provide water to communities with little or no access and strengthen local infrastructure for the long term. And for that, we are so grateful—on World Water Day and every day.
