Dear John,
Remember Foxconn? How could you forget, right?
Even if it’s not top of mind for folks who don’t live in Mount Pleasant, the site of the massive, mostly empty Foxconn campus, it certainly is for residents there. And even more so for folks who lost their homes in the land grab enabled by extremists Scott Walker and Robin Vos.
The Wisconsin GOP threw in with a corporation that has a documented history of coaxing tax breaks from communities across the globe, then leaving taxpayers high and dry. Not to mention its documented record on workers’ rights and health.
Cooked up on the back of a piece of scrap paper, the $4 billion tax giveaway was one of former Gov. Walker’s biggest fiascos. With promises of unprecedented job growth – more than 13,000 new jobs! – and a new “Wisconn Valley” to rival Silicon Valley in northern California, Walker and Vos, along with Donald Trump and Paul Ryan, said the Foxconn deal would create the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

Unfortunately, that’s not a surprise coming from Vos, who also wasted more than $1 million (and counting) on frivolous and destructive lawsuits and investigations surrounding the legitimare 2016 election of President Joe Biden. As my dad used to say, “Hypocrites will always be offended by the truth.”
Now, with the fiasco still ongoing, three candidates for Mount Pleasant Town Board are standing up for the community and the health – both financial and physical – of their community.
Meanwhile, Vos, whose district is famously gerrymandered to keep him in power despite what his constituents actually want and need, has largely put his head in the sand and abandoned Mount Pleasant and its residents. Yet extremist forces there are STILL trying to paint their disastrous decision-making as a positive. The village is hemorrhaging money for Foxconn-related consultants who are being paid fantastical fees. It’s time this fiasco ends – and you can help make that happen.
Your urgent gift today helps us fight to elect leaders in Mount Pleasant – and across Wisconsin – on April 4 who will stand up to big polluters and put an end to the Foxconn farce.

Wisconsin Conservation Voters has endorsed three candidates who will finally turn the tide for Mount Pleasant and start to repair the damage done by Walker and Vos-aligned politicians. Candidates unafraid of the destructive Vos political machine and who will fight for the people of Mount Pleasant, not some shady multinational corporation and its lackeys. |

These candidates are a shining example of the conservation voter movement. When faced with long odds against huge, monied forces, local community members are standing up and fighting for the place they call home and the community they love. Friends, neighbors, colleagues saying, “Enough is enough. This is our community, our home.” And they are just one example of like-minded folks across the state running for office to make their communities a better place. These are people just like you and me – led by their values rather than corporate donations. |

“Mount Pleasant is at a crossroads. Our future can no longer be in the hands of the politicians who brought us Foxconn — the largest failed publicly funded economic development in U.S. history. The Foxconn deal will never create the 13,000 full time jobs we were promised, but village consultants continue to be paid millions with no accountability. I will put an end to it.” |
