John,
As a nurse in St. Louis, Cori has seen firsthand the stark health inequities faced by uninsured and under-insured folks. Every day, people are forced to ration or go without expensive medication like insulin, as they are left to choose between this life-saving medication or groceries, child care, and even rent.
No one should have to ration or go without insulin in our country. That’s why last week, Bernie and Cori introduced a bill to cap the price of insulin at $20 per vial for everyone.
This fight is personal for us, and we’ll always fight to put people before profits. Cori has been fighting for Medicare For All and lower prescription drug costs since before she was elected to Congress in 2020. Just last year, she made history and chaired the first House Oversight Committee hearing on Medicare For All — and the first Congressional hearing on the need for a single-payer health care system since the start of the pandemic.
Millions of people of all ages and backgrounds depend on insulin to survive. But because of Republicans bowing down to corporate greed, it is unaffordable for too many people, especially Black and brown people, low-income people, uninsured and under-insured communities, and people with disabilities.
Why?
Because Big Pharma squeezes as much money as they possibly can out of vulnerable people to make record profits. We deserve a health care system that prioritizes humanity over greed and compassion over exploitation.
We can't let Republicans and their Big Pharma donors get in the way of this important progress. Sign our petition now: No one should have to shoulder an extreme financial burden for essential health care, especially for life-saving medication like insulin.
It’s time for Congress to side with everyday people and make insulin affordable for everyone who depends on it. Together, we can bring the pressure to make sure that it gets done.
In solidarity,
Cori Bush HQ
