About three years ago, our country faced the beginning of an unprecedented catastrophe that we thought was impossible in this day and age, one that continues its impact today — COVID-19.

Together, our country lost over a million lives, something that we will always remember.

So when Long Beach ended up being known nationwide for becoming the first city in California to vaccinate educators and the first city to vaccinate 99% of its senior population, I knew that our work mattered.

Now as a congressman, when I sit on a House Oversight Committee hearing on the origins of COVID-19 and hear extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene spew tin foil hat conspiracy theories about the pandemic that cost America over a million lives, it becomes personal.

Right-wing conspiracy theorists have continuously dismissed this deadly pandemic, but I will not let them continue to spew lies. I will fight to ensure that our government leads by the facts and data because that is the best way to prevent another pandemic from devastating our country.
