In clear echoes of the calls to his supporters that led to the violence of January 6, 2021, Trump said of his possible looming arrest: "PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

Instead of defending due process, Republican after Republican rushed to his defense by saying the potential indictment is politically motivated and an abuse of power.
