Reminder that the AYD Women Empowerment Forum is tonight at 6:30pm at Shirlington Library. We have a great program featuring presentations from Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia and Doorways. We will also be collecting donations for Doorways! If you still need to pick something up to donate beforehand, there is a CVS near the library. Check out what items are needed in the event block below.
And don't forget to sign up for the Virginia Young Democrats Convention. The convention is in Richmond from April 14th to 16th. AYD will be sending a delegation to attend and the deadline to sign up [[link removed]] with us is March 22nd . But John, the reality is conventions are expensive. There's travel, hotel accommodations, registration fees, and other associated costs. And as our name suggests, AYDs range from 18 to 35 years old. Some are college students, some just recently graduated, and a lot of us are in the early years of our professional careers.
That's why we have established a modest fundraising goal of $2500 to cover the hotel and registration costs for at least twenty AYD delegates. So please, if you can, send a donation our way . Every dollar helps.

Join Arlington Young Democrats and Arlington Democrats Women’s Caucus for our 2023 Women Empowerment Forum, March 21st at 6:30PM at Shirlington Library! VAYD Convention Sign-up for AYD [[link removed]]
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS: AYD is going to the Virginia Young Democrats Convention in Richmond, Virginia from April 14th-16th! This is a great opportunity to connect with Young Dems from across the Commonwealth and have your voice be heard in VAYD's leadership reorganization. Through fundraising efforts, we aim to cover the cost of registration and housing of the first 20 AYD dues paying members who sign up. If you are unsure if your dues are up to date, please contact AYD Retention Director Annie Styles at [email protected] [[email protected]] .

Deadline to sign up to receive assistance will be March 22nd at 11:59pm. AYD will bulk register folks for convention and the awards gala and reserve hotel rooms in the VAYD hotel block by March 24th. Transportation is on the individual , but we recommend carpooling or Amtrak (you can indicate if you are able to drive folks or would like a ride in the form below).
If you have already registered , that's fine but you will not benefit from AYD cost coverage . Just let us know if you've already registered so we know who from AYD will be joining us. If you miss our March 22nd deadline , you may sign up on your own through VAYD before their April 7th deadline, but you will have to cover the cost yourself . For ease of bulk registration, we are only covering in person registration, so if you choose to do virtual, you will have to register on your own . What to know about housing coverage: We are allocating $2000 to get five hotel rooms for Friday and Saturday. There will be four people max per hotel room, maybe less depending on sign ups. You will be assigned rooms by April 1st (you may indicate if you have roommate preferences) and if you are not comfortable sharing beds, we recommend you coordinate with your roommates and figure out who is bringing a sleeping bag, air mattress, etc.
What to know about registration coverage: We are allocating $500 to cover the cost of registration for the following.
In-person YD convention registration (Friday Evening, Saturday, Sunday): $25
In-person YD Awards Gala (Saturday evening): $25
You don't have to attend both, but please let us know what you would like to register for so we can register you properly. We do recommend you attend both for ease of bulk registration. Also, if you are not a Young Dem (ages 18-35) and wish to attend the awards gala, you will have to register on your own.
Finally, if you would rather get your own housing, that is fine, but it will not be covered . Just let us know in the form below so we can keep track of everyone from our delegation.
