Here’s how every dollar helps.
#1. Treating groves to protect giant sequoias from wildfire
Climate change, drought, and unnatural fuel buildup from past fire suppression practices have left irreplaceable, 3,000-year-old giants susceptible to severe wildfire.
We’re ramping up our efforts to treat groves by removing dense young trees and woody debris from around monarch giant sequoias and by preparing the land for prescribed burns.

#2. Restoring impacted groves
|
Post-fire recovery work includes planting native seedlings and removing fuel to give seedlings the best chance of survival.
Much of this year’s work will focus on League-owned Alder Creek, where we will begin phase 2 of a massive restoration project.

#3. Researching climate change
Our team is exploring the science of the giant sequoias to better understand the impacts of climate change and how we can prepare these ancient trees for a warmer and drier world.
