John, with exactly two weeks until the run-off election for Chicago's next mayor, I want to emphasize that local races like these are more than just filling elected offices.
They're about people in our communities who are passionate about making them better.
They're about making sure that the values with which our elected officials make decisions align with the values of people on the ground.
They're about choosing the best person to represent you and your family, your friends and neighbors.
They're about working together toward a shared vision for the future, a shared goal toward a better quality of life.
But here's what they're NOT:
These local elections are NOT about furthering one's political career.
They're NOT about taking away from our public schools, and throwing more money into private schools.
They're NOT about taking away a person's right over total control of their medical decisions.
Most importantly, they're NOT about catering to the wants of special interest groups and corporations.
Which is why I've spent a lot of time being a champion for candidates who listen to their people, who fight for their community, and share my vision for a better Illinois.
I'd like to continue standing up for mi gente and making sure that we've got people on every level of government looking out for them. But I'm just one person – there's only so much I can do without your help. Will you chip in to help me support candidates who want to see our state reach its full potential? [[link removed]]
