Community Rating System (CRS) is a voluntary incentive program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management practices that exceed the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Flood insurance premiums are discounted in CRS communities to reflect that reduced flood risk.

Scholarships are available that may reimburse Nebraska floodplain administrators' travel related expenses and continuing education credits are preapproved for CFMs and Nebraska Treasurers of communities that participate in the NFIP.
