Dear Team,
The public health crisis in the United States grows with each new law passed restricting the right to essential reproductive health care, so we are back in court—this time in Texas.
This fight is in our hands, and we need your help today.
The Center for Reproductive Rights has filed a groundbreaking lawsuit against the state of Texas seeking to clarify the scope of the state's "medical emergency" exception under its extreme abortion bans. This is just one way we are using our expertise to fight for essential rights to health care state by state.
Right now, millions of people are at risk because of dangerous bans on necessary and essential reproductive health care. Will you step up and make a gift at this critical time to help our work in Texas and beyond? Any amount helps.
Our case, Zurawski v. State of Texas, was brought on behalf of five Texas women—each denied abortion care after facing severe and dangerous pregnancy complications—and two Texas obstetrician-gynecologists. While the women's conditions should have qualified under the state's abortion restrictions exceptions, they were denied care in Texas and their conditions worsened, posing great risks to their fertility, health, and lives.
Around the world, the Center is fighting to ensure that all people can safely access essential reproductive health care where they live. No one should be forced to wait until they are at death's door to receive health care. Make your gift today and join the movement to preserve and expand abortion rights.
Together in this fight,
Nancy Northup
