Friends — If you needed any more proof to understand why we need ballot measures now more than ever, take a look at this:

In a clip that has now gone viral, legislators in Oklahoma debated a bill that would guarantee paid maternity leave to state employees when one extremist state official belittled this critical time off for new parents as a “six weeks paid vacation.”
Team, when out-of-touch politicians like this are the ones deciding which policies get passed and which ones don’t, it’s no wonder why more and more Americans are using ballot measures to bring about the changes they want to see in their communities. Family leave isn’t a “paid vacation,” it’s a right that all workers deserve. If you agree, join us in calling for a national paid leave policy by signing on to this petition! [[link removed]]

Fairness Project has helped win ballot measure campaigns that delivered paid family and medical leave to workers in Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, and Washington. We’re so proud of the work we’ve done to help change the lives of workers in these states, but the vast majority of the U.S. still haven’t enacted paid leave laws.
We believe workers deserve the right to paid family and medical leave regardless of what state they’re in. If you agree, please sign on to this petition calling for a national paid leave law and make your voice heard on behalf of workers today! [[link removed]]
