President Joe Biden released his 2024 budget proposal with a clear focus on creating a more equitable economic system by increasing taxes on the wealthy and corporations and increasing investments in vulnerable communities, families, and children.
Biden’s budget offers a clear contrast to right-wing extremists in Congress who are attempting to cut critical programs for working and low-income people. Not only does this budget reduce the federal deficit by $3 trillion over the next decade, it does this through the basic fairness of requiring the richest among us to pay taxes, through its Billionaire Minimum Income Tax, increased stock buyback tax, taxing investment income at the same rate as income from work, and raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%.
The United States is the wealthiest country in the world. We can afford to invest in our future by increasing taxes on the rich and corporations, who have evaded their fair share for far too long.
