Last year’s disastrous ruling on mail ballots that disproportionately disenfranchised Democratic and historically neglected voters was decided by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in a split 4-4 vote, due to a vacant seat to be filled in the upcoming election.

With one more progressive justice, thousands of voters would not have been disenfranchised over meaningless nuisance requirements.

In a close 2024 presidential election, that and other rulings like it could mean the difference between electing a president who stands up for democracy and one who wants to destroy it.

With turnout expected to be dangerously low in the upcoming local, municipal, and judicial elections that include this and many other important races, our work to ensure Pennsylvanians receive the representation they deserve is as important as ever.

Unfortunately, the funding we’re receiving does not reflect this urgency. So far this year, we have raised less than one-sixth as much as we had by this point last year — and that’s going to cause serious problems if we can’t get back on the right track.
