Hwy 36 Planning Study
Location: Roseville, Little Canada and Maplewood, Ramsey County
Notice description: MnDOT is looking ahead to the future of Hwy 36 in Roseville, Little Canada and Maplewood. This 8-mile segment of Hwy 36 is a vital east/west route for many, including commuters, shoppers, students and local residents. For people going north and south, crossing Hwy 36 can be inconvenient and require out-of-direction travel, especially by bike or on foot. Highway 36 is a four-lane principal arterial that is an important east/west route in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Highway System. The study area begins just east of the Hwy 36/I-35W interchange at the Ramsey County line and proceeds east approximately 7.5 miles to the Bruce Vento Trail pedestrian bridge crossing just east of English Street. Average daily motor vehicle volumes on Hwy 36 range from approximately 65,000 to 83,000 trips. There are 13 interchanges and crossings of Hwy 36 in the study area, as well as two parallel county roads (County B and County B2).
