I’m Sarah, a long-time volunteer with Fair Fight Action. It’s nice to meet you virtually!

I’ve been with Fair Fight Action since the beginning, volunteering in all things voter protection in one of the largest counties in Georgia. I do this work because I know how consequential voting is, and because no eligible voter should face any barriers keeping them from the ballot box. Voter suppression infuriates me, but my passion for change fuels me to continue fighting!

It’s been years since my first time volunteering — years of being a volunteer liaison, mentoring other volunteers, and running dozens of text and phone banks — and my dedication has not changed. Volunteering is my contribution to help protect our freedom to vote, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only way you can be involved. We rely on thousands of donors every year to keep our work going. I’ve seen firsthand how Fair Fight Action makes an impact by listening to voters and lifting up their stories. When we make sure elected officials hear real stories from real people about what’s happening on the ground, we can get them to make positive changes in our elections process. And we can ensure more people can make their voices heard. I’m incredibly proud to be a volunteer with this vital organization.

Just in the past few weeks, our team leapt into action to help stop a slew of anti-voter bills in the Georgia state legislature, and Fair Fight Action will keep working alongside partners to protect the freedom to vote even after the end of the legislative session. Our recent wins against threats to our democracy really reminded me why Fair Fight Action needs to be prepared to respond during critical moments, and a big part of our response comes down to resources.
