Republicans have made a habit of deregulating something and then trying to pass the blame when faced with disasters of their own making.

They did it with their pandemic response, railroad safety, and now, another bank failure.

Republicans allowed for the catastrophic failure of Silicon Valley Bank by choosing to weaken bank regulations back in 2018. John, we cannot let them get away with it.

The GOP is already trying to spin this story and assign blame to everyone but themselves, so it’s on us to show people that this is the GOP’s fault. Will you chip in $25 to help us amplify our message and show people that Republicans are working for banks, while Democrats are working for families?

Make no mistake, John — Republicans’ actions allowed this to happen.

After the 2008 financial crisis, regulatory rules were put in place to prevent this sort of thing from happening again — rules that would force banks like SVB to abide by the same standards and practices as those more heavily regulated by the federal government.

But in 2018, Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress did away with those protections, setting the stage for exactly this sort of crisis.

All so that their rich buddies can get even richer, John.

The GOP needs to pay a political price for their corporate greed, and we can make sure that happens by kicking them out of Congress. Can I count on you to chip in $25 to help defeat a Republican party obsessed with putting profits over people?
