Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
Rejecting the Politicization of our Military
A recent report revealed that the U.S. Air Force (USAF) launched an effort this month to hire several senior-level Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) officials across the country. Since March 3rd, the USAF has put out calls to hire four DEI-related positions. DEI policies are inherently divisive and go against the values our country and our military stand for. As a Navy veteran, I'm appalled by this brazen attempt by the Biden administration to politicize our military. I will work with my colleagues to provide rigorous oversight to ensure this divisive ideology does not deter us from building an effective fighting force. Click here to learn more.
Experiencing the Beauty of Florida 18
Last week, I joined Bok Tower Gardens President David Price for a tour of the gardens. Located in Lake Wales, Bok Tower Gardens was created by Edward Bok in 1920 and is home to the beautiful Olmsted Gardens and Trails, the Hammock Hollow Children's Garden, and the 205-foot Singing Tower. I also met with award winning Belgian-American composer and carillonneur Geert D’hollander. Thank you to the Bok Tower Gardens team for making FL-18 and the world a bit more beautiful!
