Exciting news:
President Biden nominated Julie Su — the current Acting Secretary of Labor — to serve as the next Secretary of Labor. If confirmed, she will be the first AAPI Cabinet secretary of the Biden administration.
During the White House nomination event, Acting Secretary of Labor Su shared:
"We have an extraordinary opportunity to build an economy where no one feels invisible, where every individual and community not only gets to benefit from the President's transformative vision for America, but also gets to help make it real."
We couldn’t agree more.
Julie Su is a fierce ally and strong advocate for all workers. Her impressive track record of defending workers’ rights and strengthening labor laws will be crucial in our fight to ensure everyone is paid fair wages, protected in the workplace, and treated with dignity and respect.
As a woman of color and a daughter of immigrants, Julie Su also embodies the diversity of our nation and would bring critical lived experience to President Biden’s Cabinet.
But none of this can happen until the Senate confirms Julie Su. Please, send an email to your senators urging them to swiftly vote for Julie Su's confirmation as the next Secretary of the Department of Labor >>>
As we gear up for potential political attacks during her confirmation hearings, keep these 3 things in mind: 1) Julie Su is the most qualified person to lead the Department of Labor — already serving as Deputy Secretary, she knows the agency inside and out; 2) She reflects the breadth and diversity of our country, and her decades-long career is an example of her commitment to advancing racial equity; 3) She is a true champion for workers of all backgrounds.
Thank you for joining us in calling on the Senate to confirm Julie Su without delay.
