1) Free Donald Trump
Let’s see if we have this straight: the people who spent two years on the Russia hoax; the same people who falsified a dossier on Trump conspiring with Russian spies; the same people who falsely tried to impeach Trump not once but twice; the same people who called for a raid on the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence; the same people who swore that the Hunter Biden laptop was a hoax and so never investigated; and the same people who have NEVER once apologized to the president and the American people for these slanderous streams of lies and falsehoods…may arrest Trump this week on more flimsy charges.

What’s next? Tarring and feathering Trump in the public square?

No matter what one thinks of Trump (we loved his policies and are often disturbed by his antics), any sane person not suffering from severe Anti-Trump Derangement Syndrome would have to agree that
this outrageous abuse of the government’s police and investigative powers to destroy a party’s political opponent is the stuff of a banana republic - or of Chicago.

This pitiful power play from the left will only unify more support for Trump.

Is this their secret strategy?

2) Uh Oh! The Fed Is Super-Sizing Its Balance Sheet Again
CTUP’s economic ace EJ Antoni has chased down the latest Federal Reserve Bank data showing that much of the Fed tightening of the last year to combat inflation has been undone by Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s actions to rescue troubled banks.

Its actions parallel and even exceed the steps taken – such as the TARP program – during the mortgage/banking crisis in 2008. Lending from the Fed directly to banks smashed those previous records by more than 30% in the days following Silicon Valley Bank’s and Signature Bank’s failures.

We worry that this will work about as well as those interventions under George W. Bush in 2008 and the even more disastrous “stimulus” spending under Obama in 2009 and 2010.

3) A Century of Federal Spending
Here's an eye-opening chart from our friend Chris Edwards at Cato.

[link removed]
Taxes in real dollars and as a share of GDP are close to being higher now than at any time in history. Defense spending is historically low while non-defense spending has exploded to 18.6% of GDP, up from 12.6.% in 2000. There’s your culprit. Biden’s budget calls for $500 billion more in 2025.

4) Florida and DeSantis Near Passing Most Ambitious School Choice Bill In U.S. History
Florida’s Universal School Choice Program may be on the verge of passing the legislature. Last Friday, Florida’s GOP House passed a bill lifting income caps and expanding school choice to all of the state’s 2.9 million children. One out of 10 Democrats actually voted for it. The State Senate will take up the bill this week.

[link removed]
Governor Ron DeSantis has been a champion of school choice, but he has doubts about lifting the income caps.“If you have a family that’s very high income, they already have school choice,” Mr. DeSantis said last month. “They don’t necessarily need to be eligible for the program.”

The state has more than 700 independent charter schools, plus two voucher programs and a corporate tax credit scholarship. Today, three out of four Florida kids are in a school of choice that is different from their assigned local school.

5) Chicago Teacher Unions Try to Buy A Mayoral Candidate
Brandon Johnson has received 95%+ of his total campaign funding from unions and two-thirds of that is specifically from teachers' unions.

[link removed]
Can you imagine if Johnson wins and he is sitting across the table from the labor bosses to negotiate the union’s next contract? With representatives of the teachers union on both sides of the table, who is going to represent the kids and the taxpayers?
