Dear Friend,

Just a few months into 2023, several prominent California legislators have
jumped into the race for Congress.

You know what that means -- before you know it, our televisions will be
flooded by commercials, both attacking candidates and showing the
candidates making bold promises about how they will make the country
better. How can you possibly know what the truth is?

Courage California has got you covered with our annual Courage Score.

The Courage Score shows how our politicians actually vote, not what they
promise. We lay out in easy-to-read detail whether or not they’ve stood up
for the people while in office, and which special interests they’ve taken
money from. It’s a critical resource, and we need to ensure that as many
people as possible see it in order to cut through the election noise.

[ [link removed] ]We are planning a huge launch of our Courage Score in April to let
California know what -- and who -- their representatives are fighting for.
Will you chip in to ensure that millions of Californians see their
representatives’ Score?

State Senator Scott Wiener has announced he’s interested in running for
Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s seat, should she retire.(1) State Senator Anthony
Portantino and Assemblymember Laura Friedman have announced they will run
to replace Rep. Adam Schiff.(2) California’s 47th Congressional district
already has several candidates, including including state Senator Dave
Min.(3)

They’re just the tip of the iceberg.

The Courage Score will let voters know how these representatives and the
rest of the legislature cast their vote when they had the chance to
protect the environment, support affordable housing, and rein in police
power. Did they vote in the interest of the people, or did they vote with
whichever special interest lined their pockets?

We’ve done the research necessary to rise above the typical political
rhetoric, working with dozens of partners and reviewing hundreds of bills
to identify the real heroes of the legislature -- and those who made
progressive promises and then betrayed us when in office.

Courage Score is one of our biggest, most ambitious projects, and the only
way we can get it done -- and into the hands of the public -- is with your
support.

Thanks for your critical support.
