Hey!
I'm reaching out on the chance that your internet is better with the Internet Archive on it—whether you use the WayBack Machine, crate dig in their troves of live show recordings, or peruse their 37 million texts.
Today, we're holding an online rally of Internet Archive supporters. This is a very broad invite for individuals as well as companies, organizations, and artists to speak up. Take action at BattleForLibraries.com!
TAKE ACTION
Why today? Well, right now Internet Archive is being sued by several of the world's biggest book publishers, in an attempt to make them delete 4 million books that they've scanned into their archives and shut down ALL libraries' last option to own and preserve digital books.1 Big Media spends millions every year on lobbying and PR2—and the Internet Archive has been a major target for doing exactly what dozens of other libraries like Boston Public are doing.3 Oral arguments in the case are happening today, and we think it'd be great if people who love IA like we do spoke up!
We hope that you can join by tweeting, tooting, 'gramming, tiktoking, etc., your support for this rad nonprofit that's been around "forever" (at least in internet terms!) If you're able to post, use the hashtag #DigitalRightsForLibraries so everyone can find it!

Folks like Peter Gabriel,4 Neil Gaiman, Hanif Abdurraqib, Naomi Klein, Chuck Wendig, and Cory Doctorow5 have already spoken out.
Thanks so much for anything you can do to show up for the Internet Archive and hand these censorious lobbyists their a** 😉
