Hello John,

As we see an increasing wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation rolling out across the country, we know there is a clear attempt to erase LGBTQ+ youth from public life.

From bans on gender-affirming healthcare to laws that would make it illegal to provide support to LGBTQ+ youth in a public K–12 school, the ability for LGBTQ+ youth to thrive is being threatened.

Now is the time to Rise Up and respond.

GLSEN was founded by educators over 30 years ago in response to hate and violence in schools. Today, as a community of advocates, students, educators, allies, and leaders, we all need to Rise Up for LGBTQ+ Youth [[link removed]] as a collective power.

In honor of the over 2 million LGBTQ+ youth who live in the United States, the goal of this campaign is to show more than 2 million public displays of support in affirming communities throughout the country.

There are multiple ways to show your support today:
1. Sign our Rise Up Pledge [[link removed]]. Then share it with your friends and peers.
2. Purchase your Rise Up swag from our shop [[link removed]]. Proceeds go to our programs and resources for students and educators.
3. Share one of our Rise Up posts from the @GLSEN feed (Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook).
4. Post a picture in your Rise Up swag and include this hashtag #RiseUp4LGBTQ and link in the caption: shop.glsen.org

Whether it's wearing a button or shirt, putting up a yard sign, or sharing a digital poster, we are creating symbols of hope that can spread the word far and wide to show we are here, and we will rise up for LGBTQ+ youth.

PURCHASE RISE UP SWAG [[link removed]]

100% of the proceeds from merchandise support GLSEN's work to create safe and inclusive schools for all.

We raise our voices, we raise our fists, we raise our spirits, our consciousness, and our bodies to show that we will not be complicit in the erasure of our LGBTQ+ youth.

In solidarity,
Melanie Willingham-Jaggers
