Hi John,
I can't believe what I hear these days. Boys can dress up like girls and then compete against girls?!? How is this fair?
I will stand up for our girls in Arizona sports. No more will they have to deal with big men switching to becoming girls their senior year so they can steal scholarships, trophies, and accolades from girls who have worked so hard all their lives in a sport.
No longer will confused boys get to compete - at an advantage - against girls. I mean, this is why performance-enhancing drugs are banned!
Sorry, but I am old fashioned: two genders, only two. Boys and girls - and both deserve a fair chance to compete!
I support the legislation being debated in the Arizona legislature:
The Arizona legislation allows only biological women or girls to play on female teams, and requires a doctor’s note to prove a person is female if their birth sex is disputed. It allows lawsuits by students who believe they’ve missed opportunities because a transgender person is on a school team.
The measure is intended to prevent female athletes from being forced to compete against biological males, Barto said in a statement. It would apply to K-12 schools, community colleges and state universities but only to female teams.
She said most people view the issue as one of basic fairness.
“When this is allowed, it discourages female participation in athletics and, worse, it can result in women and girls being denied crucial educational and financial opportunities,” Barto’s statement said.
It's time to protect our children, and that means affirming the clearest biological facts that are beyond dispute.
