John, I'm reaching out personally because I need to ask a favor of you today. Yes, this is a fundraising ask, and I wish I didn't have to make it. But it's important that I have the resources to win reelection, so I hope you will hear me out.

The truth is that I hate asking people to contribute. It's the worst part of this job, and our democracy would be better off if we could get these absurd levels of money out of our politics. The corporate money and super PACs are undoubtedly a corrosive force.

But my campaign cannot just unilaterally disarm. It would put a huge target on us for far-right billionaires and super PACs that can spend limitless sums of money. Senate races are just expensive, and frankly, people deserve to know that I’m putting in the work of legislating in the Senate and organizing on the ground to earn their vote.

That’s why I’m building a people-powered campaign from start to finish. I’m going to fund this the right way – I’m not taking any PAC or corporate money – but it requires that I lean on you a bit more.

Look, I know you probably did not expect to make a contribution to my reelection when you woke up this morning, but if you believe that people power is the right way to run a campaign, then I need you to have my back before our official FEC deadline.

Please split a contribution of $3 between my campaign and Maggie Hassan today to help us win. Please know I only ask because your support is truly important. There’s no way we can take on the important fights ahead of us alone.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Every best wish,
