Hi John,

Have you heard the verdict on the federal Mifepristone case finally came in?? NEITHER HAVE WE! The (not even a little bit, not even at all) Honorable Judge Kacsmaryk, beyond trying to schedule secret hearings, ban reporters from communicating from the inside, and was basically pleading with the anti-abortion orgs to help him rule, seems to be taking his sweet ass time. Is it too much to hope that he’s realizing just how absurd this case is and figure out how to get the hell out of it? Probably not.

Let it be known that we don’t exclusively share all of the bad news, and North Dakota is coming in for the assist this week! North Dakota’s Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision to block an abortion ban from going into effect because the state’s constitution protects some abortion rights. It’s not the final decision, but we take the wins where we can get them- especially when it’s in the peace garden state!

Okay sorry, we’re back to the regularly scheduled bullshit and the alarming trend of people being criminalized for miscarriages. What happens when you make laws both incredibly strict and very ambiguous? NOBODY KNOWS WHAT TO DO! If both patient and provider are afraid of being criminalized for miscarriage management and have no idea what the law actually means, it just means more people will suffer. We’re thankful for resources like If/When/How’s Repro Legal Helpline and the M+A Hotline for miscarriage and self-managed abortion assistance.
