Dear John,
We are proud to share exciting updates about the leadership transition at Grassroots Leadership as we kick off the new decade and celebrate our 40 year anniversary. Over the years, we've evolved in direct response to the changing needs of our community. We’ve built a strong and growing base of directly impacted people, won seemingly impossible victories in Texas, and set the tone for grassroots organizing nationally.
A few months ago, after seven years as executive director and more than 16 years on staff, Bob Libal announced his sabbatical and transition out of his role [[link removed]] . For him, this means continuing to be the biggest supporter of Grassroots Leadership’s powerful and impactful work.
"The time has come for Grassroots Leadership to boldly reflect the change we seek more of locally, nationally, and in the world. I see this change as an opportunity to align ourselves with the intention to be led by people closest to the issues and closest to the solutions." —Bob Libal
We invite you to learn more about the search for our next Co-Executive Directors [[link removed]] .
Please reach out to us and our partners, NPAG ( [email protected] [[email protected]] ) with any questions about the search process and nominations for excellent candidates. Together, we are shifting to position people of color and directly impacted people at the forefront of our organization to continue to shape change in and with our communities.
At Grassroots Leadership, we are led by the people and rooted in transformation. Thank you for joining us as we continue along the trajectory of powerful, courageous, community-led change.
In Community,
Barbara Hines and Darwin Hamilton
Co-chairs of the Board of Directors
PS: The fight to end the criminalization of Black and brown communities continues; your continued support is critical [[link removed]] for realizing a future where bars and cages are things of the past.
