John,

During their opening arguments in the impeachment trial, House managers laid out a powerful case against the President, presenting mountains of evidence that he abused his power. Over the past week, new information has also surfaced, adding further weight to these charges.

I know there's a lot to keep track of, so I want to highlight some key facts -- facts that my opponent Lee Zeldin has chosen to ignore as a member of Trump's impeachment team:

1. On a July 25 call, Trump asked the president of Ukraine to do him a political “favor” in order to get congressionally authorized military aid: investigate an American citizen.
2. Multiple non-partisan foreign policy professionals, such as Alexander Vindman, Fiona Hill, Gordon Sondland, and Bill Taylor, have testified that the Trump administration repeatedly instructed them to leverage aid to Ukraine in exchange for this investigation.
3. Trump had Rudy Giuliani (his personal attorney) circumvent standard diplomatic channels to pressure Ukraine into digging up dirt on a major political rival.
4. Giuliani and other Trump loyalists pushed debunked conspiracy theories, and worked to discredit and intimidate honest officials who stood in the way of their corrupt activities -- such as former Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.
5. As reported by The New York Times, former National Security Advisor John Bolton has confirmed that the President personally directed that Ukrainian aid be delayed until an investigation into the Bidens was announced.
The bottom line is this: Presidents cannot be permitted to use taxpayer dollars to pressure foreign leaders into doing their personal and political bidding.

Zeldin has his hands full as a member of Trump’s impeachment defense team. It's no surprise that his solution so far has been to simply deny the facts before our eyes -- and to repeat long-discredited conspiracy theories.

As a scientist, I've always been taught to look to the evidence when deciding what is real. That's a principle we could use a lot more of in our government. So we need to defeat politicians like Zeldin who habitually deny the truth and defend dangerous and corrupt behavior.
