Dear John,
Last week I returned home from the busy work in Washington to visit our community and help me work on your behalf. On this trip, I was able to support Travis Air Force Base as the Chair of the Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee and advocate for the Delta and other local natural resources.
Travis Air Force Base
I had the honor of participating in Travis Air Force Base's Civic Leaders Breakfast in Solano County. These gatherings are a critically important way to foster relationships between Travis Air Force Base and its community partners. I will always support efforts to maintain strong relationships between the Travis Airmen and the Solano community and fight for the resources our airmen need to keep Travis the gateway to the Pacific.
Meeting with Secretary Crowfoot
I also met with California Natural Resources Secretary, Wade Crowfoot, to express my appreciation for Governor Newsom’s inclusion of the Sites Reservoir Project, an off-stream reservoir, in his 2020 Water Resilience Portfolio. Building Sites Reservoir would bring California closer to achieving a drought-resilient water system. Our state needs to make forward-looking investments to meet its future water supply needs, and Sites will benefit farmers, our communities, and the environment. That’s why I helped secure an additional $6 million in federal funding for this crucial project in 2019. I also spoke with Secretary Crowfoot about my concern with the location of a single tunnel in the Governor’s water plan that could extract water from the Delta. I appreciated the Secretary’s willingness to discuss alternatives to the single tunnel proposal, and I look forward to working together to protect our state’s precious natural resources.
I love my work, and I am thankful that I am able to do it because of all of your support. If you would like to help me with my work, please give whatever you can here.
Sincerely,
John Garamendi
