Dear Advocate,

These agenda-setting resources will help you set a course in 2020 for HIV prevention done right! Below you’ll find resources and information for advocacy on the integration of sexual reproductive health and HIV prevention services, ammunition against the global gag rule, a field report on improving PrEP rollout and more.

Documenting the Damage of the Global Gag Rule
AVAC's Kevin Fisher and CHANGE’s Bergen Cooper co-authored an op-ed studded with evidence about the devastating effects of the expanded global gag rule imposed by the Trump Administration. The policy prohibits foreign non-governmental organizations who receive US government dollars from talking about or providing abortion. Read on to learn how this policy is costing lives and dragging down progress on HIV prevention and global health at large.

Making PrEP Work
* Kenya’s Jilinde ([link removed]) project has pioneered cutting-edge tactics to bring oral PrEP to the people who need it most. Read our blog, Designing PrEP Messages that Work for Young Women: Learning from the Jilinde PrEP project in Kenya ([link removed]), co-authored by AVAC and Jhpiego ([link removed]), which looks at how Jilinde embraced human-centered design and how insights from young women are helping to strengthen rollout.

* Jhpiego and the AVAC-led HIV Prevention Market Manager ([link removed]) convened a think tank of PrEP experts to explore the limitations of current methods for monitoring and evaluating PrEP use. This think tank analyzed the application of current methods, and in Redefining Success With Oral PrEP: A call for better metrics ([link removed]) issued preliminary recommendations for a new generation of metrics that better capture the use and impact of daily oral PrEP.

Answering the Call for Bold Leadership
AVAC is proud to share the next installment in our blog carnival ([link removed]), launched on World’s AIDS Day in December. We asked young leaders in HIV advocacy—we think of them as Generation Now!—to support our call in our Now What? ([link removed]) report for galvanizing leadership in 2020, when it will be crucial to set new prevention targets to correct the course of the epidemic. Matthew Rose answers ([link removed]) with a sweeping view of the history of the epidemic and what must come next. Prince Mikel Juao gives readers ([link removed]) a view on what the fight looks like in Malawi, where stigma can be an overwhelming force.

Eliminating TB by 2030
