HUD Manufactured Housing Modernization Act: PASSED
The expanded version of the HUD Manufactured Housing Modernization Act [[link removed]] was included in the U.S. appropriations bill for FY20 and is now law! This bill includes language that requires HUD to develop guidance for recipients of federal housing funds to include manufactured housing in their consolidated planning process.
New House Bill Would Fund Manufactured Housing Community Preservation
On January 7, Reps. Ro Khanna [[link removed]] (D-CA-17) and Cindy Axne [[link removed]] (D-IA-3) introduced H.R. 5547, the Manufactured Housing Community Preservation Act [[link removed]]. If enacted, this bill would require the Secretary of HUD to create a matched-grant program that would encourage states, localities and private actors to enter or expand their roles in the preservation of manufactured housing communities. In recent months, Prosperity Now has worked on this bill with these House offices and we are very appreciative of their commitments to preserving one of the nation's largest sources of affordable housing. Last Call for Working Groups!
In early 2017, the I'M HOME Network launched five working groups to support and expand its work. The working groups provide members of the I'M HOME Network with an opportunity to share their expertise and join with other members to tackle important problems in the manufactured housing field. These different groups focus on policy, communications, single-family finance, resident engagement and community preservation.
To better support and expand the work of the I'M HOME Network, we are starting afresh with 2020 working groups.
