Friend,

As I'm sure you've seen, Silicon Valley Bank collapsed last weekend, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation had to step in to protect the small businesses and working families who'd trusted them with their money.

Top executives got lucrative bonuses mere hours before the bank was taken over by the FDIC, but somehow that's not the most outrageous part. Republicans have chosen to blame this crisis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts and sustainability practices, even going so far as to call it "woke capitalism".

This shouldn't have to be said, but let me be absolutely clear: building more inclusive boardrooms does not cause banks to collapse.

This is a new level of absurd — and it is a reminder that conservatives are ready to relinquish all credibility for cheap political points.

My Democratic colleagues and I will keep working towards meaningful measures to protect our communities, because we know working families' livelihoods shouldn't be used as a political circus.

We're fighting for you — no matter what nonsense we see across the aisle. Will you join us? [[link removed]]

Best,
Nydia
