Governor Kelly’s veto of HB 2238 - Fairness in Women’s Sports - yesterday proves she is yet again out of touch with Kansans.
Protecting the rights of all women, and in this case specifically female athletes, by having Kansas require only biological females may compete in female sports is not only common sense, it is protecting all women’s rights.
“Sports play a key role in the lives of students who participate in them. They build character and allow athletes to demonstrate leadership, respect, emotional and physical growth and personal responsibility. The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act protects these opportunities for female athletes to grow and demonstrate their strength, skills, and athletic abilities,” said Kansas GOP Chairman Mike Brown.
“The Governor shockingly and clearly is more interested in protecting her woke ideology over the rights of Kansas female athletes. The Kansas Republican Party supports protecting the rights of biological female athletes and I encourage, and look forward to, seeing all Kansas Republican legislators join together in support of Kansas women and female-only sports by overriding Governor Kelly’s veto.”
