John, the Republican goonies are back at it again.
Republicans like Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Green, Ron DeSantis, and Ted Cruz are gearing up to introduce another unfair tax act to eliminate the IRS and all federal taxes and instead replace them with a nationwide 30 percent flat sales tax.
And what are they planning to name this incredibly unjust tax act, you may ask?
The Fair Tax Act. 🤦🏾♂️
This is outrageous, John. We are all collectively sick and tired of Republicans branding clearly harmful policies as good for the general public. When, in fact, this proposed legislation would result in a crippling blow to the most financially underserved members of our communities.
We need to band together to ensure that this legislation is rejected and replaced with a policy that meets the needs of those who are affected most by our current system and taxes the rich. If you stand with me, please add your name to our petition to urge Congress to reject the Fair Tax Act.
Here's the issue: Working people are already struggling enough as is to make ends meet, and provide for their homes and families. In raising the flat sales tax to 30 percent, working families and people all across the country are bound to see a steep increase in everyday items and goods.
Furthermore, this tax plan would drastically reduce federal revenue, which means over time we'll see massive cuts in essential public services, and severe damage to charitable organizations that rely on tax incentives to do necessary work.1
In Congress, I have been and will continue to be a champion for working class families and people — no matter the circumstances. And now more than ever, we need to show a united front in our ability to protect and uplift the middle class working families who are subjected to such harmful policies.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
