Our continued efforts to lower the cost of insulin for all Americans are succeeding! This week, Sanofi and Novo Nordisk announced that they will be lowering out-of-pocket costs of insulin. This means that all three major producers of insulin have followed our lead in Congress to cap the cost of insulin. This is a direct result of the legislation I have championed, and I am proud to continue our work to increase access to care and lower costs for Americans.

This week, our community observed the two-year anniversary of the Atlanta spa shootings. I joined with members of the Georgia Legislative AAPI Caucus, Gwinnett District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson, Deputy Assistant to the President and AAPI Senior Liaison Erika Moritsugu, and fellow survivors of gun violence to speak out against anti-Asian discrimination and violence and uplift legislative solutions to end gun violence in our communities. We must remain focused on our responsibility to condemn the racism and bigotry that fueled this senseless tragedy, and rededicate ourselves to our obligation to champion solutions that will save lives.

On Friday, I attended and spoke at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Congressional Welcome Luncheon. I was pleased to speak alongside my colleagues Representative Rich McCormick and Representative Andrew Clyde as we partner in our work to represent Gwinnett County. It is such an exciting time to be in Gwinnett County, and I look forward to doing all that we can to champion opportunities for this county and for every community within Gwinnett.

Today marks one month from the 2023 tax filing deadline. As Americans are working to file their taxes by April 18th, I want to share some helpful resources from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS has established a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance grant program, which partners with organizations to provide free tax prep services to low income or underserved taxpayers. There are also Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) clinics which serve our seniors. To find a VITA or TCE program in our community, please click here.
