The Texas Legislature must continue to protect and expand the Alternatives to Abortion program to meet Texans’ increased need after the reversal of Roe v. Wade. As a Pro-Life Texan, I respectfully ask you to sustain this program through the rest of this fiscal year by funding it at $25 million in the supplemental budget, Senate Bill 30.
Since Roe was overturned, the program has seen a 40% increase in services provided to women. Because of this increase, Alternatives to Abortion will run out of money by June 2023. The resources this program provides are critical to ensuring Texas women are not pressured into seeking out-of-state or illegal abortions.
Every single day, pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and maternity homes provide both tangible and social services to truly assist women and children. Texas is Pro-Life and we want women to know they are not alone when they choose Life for their babies. Please fund Alternatives to Abortion at $25 million in the supplemental budget.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
