On?*Monday*, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine attended the ribbon-cutting for the new American Nitrile manufacturing facility in Grove City. The company began producing gloves in November 2022, and it is now making 3 million nitrile gloves per day, reducing national reliance on foreign production.

Local authorities have issued a warning about individuals going door-to-door in East Palestine impersonating personnel from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Norfolk Southern.? Currently, neither the CDC nor Norfolk Southern have personnel conducting any door-to-door operations. To protect yourself and your community:?
* *Verify their identity*: Ask for identification and verify it before engaging with anyone who comes to your home unannounced.
* *Don't share personal information*: Never give out personal information, such as your Social Security number or financial information.
* *Report suspicious activity*: If you suspect someone is impersonating a CDC or Norfolk Southern employee, report it to your local authorities immediately.
* *Spread the word*: Share the warning with your friends, family, and neighbors so they can be aware of the potential threat and take the necessary precautions.

On *Tuesday*,?Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine attended a weekly Moms2B meeting to talk with expectant mothers. Participants in Moms2B meet weekly as part of an innovative, community-based pregnancy program. Moms2B strives to empower women in high-risk neighborhoods to deliver full term, healthy babies by providing prenatal education and social support.

On behalf of the state,?Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost [ [link removed] ] filed a civil lawsuit against Norfolk Southern in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

First responders wellness support round 6 [ [link removed] ]
On *Wednesday [ [link removed] ]*, Governor DeWine announced that an additional $20 million will be dedicated to supporting?the recruitment and wellness needs of Ohio's first responders.?
The announcement brings the total amount of funding for the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program to $95 million.?Governor DeWine created the program in May 2022 to?support the wellness needs of law enforcement officers, dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs).?
"When it comes to public safety, we don't want our police officers, firefighters, and medics to be overworked and exhausted when they're responding to emergencies," said Governor DeWine. "Through this program, we're not only helping local first responders get support for their mental well-being, but we're also helping to ease the workload on current staff by funding new hires."

Blessing III, incorporates changes in the Internal Revenue Code to make changes to the Emergency Rental Assistance program, revises an existing earmark, modifies the requirements for a temporary arts economic relief grant program, and declares an emergency.?

Also on *Wednesday [ [link removed] ]*, Governor DeWine announced the appointment of Mary King to the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas, Probate and Juvenile Division.?
King, of Washington Court House, will assume office on March 27, 2023, and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge David Bender, who is resigning for a new seat on the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas, General and Domestic Relations Division. King must run for election in November 2024 to retain the seat.?

Finally, on *Wednesday [ [link removed] ]*,?Governor DeWine provided updates regarding remediation work at the site of the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
The Division of the State Fire Marshal announced that first responders in Ohio can now register to attend rail response training sessions that focus on preparing for and responding to rail incidents involving hazardous materials.?
Training will begin March 21 at the new Norfolk Southern Rail Response Training Center in Bellevue.?Governor DeWine and Norfolk Southern?announced [ [link removed] ]?the creation of the training center last week.

Other work taking place in connection with East Palestine includes a supplemental emergency response application submitted by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the testing of plants, eggs, and milk, hazardous waste removal, culvert cleaning near James and Taggart streets, private well testing, a community resource open house hosted by the U.S. EPA, and the health assessment clinic.

Teen Driver Safety Scholarship [ [link removed] ]
On* Thursday [ [link removed] ]*,?Governor DeWine announced that his administration is awarding more than half a million dollars in grants that will help more teenagers in low-income families?get access to free driver training.?
The grants are being awarded through Governor DeWine's Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program and Youthful Driver Safety Fund.
Twenty-five local governmental agencies will receive a total of $575,000 as part of the new Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program [ [link removed] ]. Governor DeWine launched this community-based teen driver training scholarship program in December 2022. The program was developed to allow eligible teenage drivers to attend driver training?classes at no cost to their families.
?Teen driver training courses can cost anywhere from $300 to $600 or more, which can be a huge barrier for some families,? said Governor DeWine. ?By increasing accessibility to this important training for teenage drivers, we can better ensure their safety, the safety of their passengers, and the safety of others on the road.?
