John,

Earlier this week I visited UC Davis. The students came prepared with some
great questions, and I felt right at home in front of this whiteboard.
Keep reading to get a glimpse inside the event, [ [link removed] ]and consider chipping
in to help us continue putting on events like these.

Question: What do you think about expanding the Supreme Court?

Answer: We should expand it. Right now, our Supreme Court doesn’t just
lean conservative, it’s corrupt. The Court is only taking up cases that
further an agenda being pushed by a handful of corporations and Republican
mega-donors. I believe we should implement term limits, work to get
politics out of our judicial system, and implement a judicial code of
ethics—it’s appalling that we don’t already have one!

Question: What do you think about President Biden’s decision to move
forward with the Willow Project?

Answer: The Biden Administration has helped us make real investments in
clean energy, but this new drilling in Alaska is a step backwards, and
this is a perfect example of why Big Oil shouldn’t be involved in
politics. Right now, I’m pushing Big Oil to clean up the messes they’ve
made and fighting for our country to truly transition to cleaner energy.

Question: What advice would you give to a young woman who wants to run for
office?

Answer: Here are a few things I really dislike: getting dressed up, giving
speeches, having my picture taken. I tell you this because it illustrates
that I *never* thought I would run for office, and because there is no one
path towards being elected. My advice for young folks interested in
running for something is to pursue service in any way you are passionate
about, whether that is organizing to pass gun violence prevention laws or
unionizing your workplace.

We desperately need more diverse voices in every level of government, and
our Senate is still made up of just 25% women. Our country needs more
young, progressive leaders in government.

It was great to meet with and hear from the UC Davis community. Now,
onward to the next campaign stop!
