Dear John,
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’ve got my green 118th Congress congressional pin on today, and I hope you’re wearing your favorite green item too!
We are working in our districts this week, and it’s great to be back home in Minnesota.
On Wednesday night I was in Eagan for my 51st town hall since being elected to Congress more than four years ago. Eagan Fire Chief Hugo Searle served as our moderator, and we had a great discussion on a range of topics including strengthening public safety, expanding resources for our veterans and protecting reproductive rights.
Thank you to everyone who came out Wednesday night – and whether or not we agree on the issues, it’s always an honor to listen to your point of view.
Another topic that came up on Wednesday was the illicit fentanyl that’s flowing through our ports of entry. This week, I worked with Democrats and Republicans to introduce the END FENTANYL Act to ensure that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have what they need to keep these drugs out of our country in the first place.
Here’s what else I was up to this week
Meeting with MN Public Safety Officials
I met with Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen and Eagan Fire Chief Hugo Searle to hear more about what their departments need and how I can be supportive in Congress. I’m working to ensure our police officers, firefighters and first responders have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.
Welcome to MN-02, Le Sueur County!
On Tuesday I was in Le Sueur County – now part of the Second District. I met with Le Sueur city officials and convened a roundtable on rural broadband in Le Center. I’m committed to being an effective voice for rural Minnesotans, and I look forward to building strong relationships with leaders across Le Sueur County.
Supporting Women-Owned Small Businesses
Stopped by one of my new favorite woman-owned small businesses, the WreckIt Rage Room in Savage, for a very productive visit.
We need to do more to ensure small businesses like the WreckIt Rage Room have the tools they need to grow and expand. I’m working in Congress to lower the tax rate on small business and small business owners and ensure we build a pipeline of young people ready to enter the workforce.
Behind the Scenes
Every time we host a town hall in #MN02 I like to showcase the talented young people in our district – this time it was MOMENTum Dance Project from Eagan. Thanks so much for joining us!
I hope you all have an enjoyable St. Patrick’s Day! Back to DC next week!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
