Friends,

This week I continued to shed light on the ongoing threat that the Mexican drug cartels pose to the United States and Mexico. President AMLO chooses to ignore this threat, going as far as defending the cartels while they continue to terrorize his people and put American lives in danger.

I also reflected on Joe Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, and how we are holding this administration accountable. It’s an honor to continue serving you in Congress, and working to advance our shared values.

Sincerely,

The President of Mexico is Putting the Cartels Before His Own People

Image

The President of Mexico is clearly defending the cartels—the same cartels that killed tens of thousands of his own citizens. They’ve been terrorizing the Mexican people for over 20 years and now they’re poisoning Americans by lacing street drugs with fentanyl. This has to stop. I joined Jesse Watters Primetime to discuss.

Joe Biden's Botched Afghanistan Withdrawal is Still a Complete Disaster

Image

The House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing on the Afghanistan withdrawal, where we heard powerful testimonies from soldiers who were on the ground and experienced the disaster firsthand. We should never forget who’s responsible for the chaos that took place. Biden’s decision to rapidly withdraw from Afghanistan after 20 years was erratic and based in emotion — not logic. We gave up on a strategic national security interest and left our Afghan allies in an unmitigated disaster. That’s why Republicans won’t stop until President Biden is held accountable.

Debunking the Top 5 Anti-Ukraine Arguments

Image

This was an interesting podcast with Chris Miller, an expert on Russian history and politics. I asked him a series of questions about the war in Ukraine that are often asked by Ukraine skeptics. In two of my recent podcast episodes, I’ve explained why it’s in America’s national interest to support Ukraine. It’s pretty clear that the alternative scenario would be far more dangerous (imagine a fully intact Russian imperialist military owning Ukraine and its resources and now on the border of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania—all NATO allies. If you think that wouldn’t have a greater chance of serious global conflict, a quick read of European history might prove otherwise). Spending less than 10% of our defense budget to prevent Putin from advancing right up Central Europe is a pretty damn good investment. This swipe deck collects five of the top arguments I hear from the anti-Ukraine side, with rebuttals from historian Chris Miller. Chris has spent years researching and writing about Russian history. He’s lived and worked in Moscow and knows the country, its people, and its leaders inside and out.

The Daily Wire: Dan Crenshaw: These Remarks From Mexico’s Leftist President Prove He’s Been ‘Bought Off By The Cartels’

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) unloaded on leftist Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, also known as AMLO, this week in response to a recent meltdown from AMLO over the issue of tackling the country’s drug cartel problem. AMLO slammed the Republican Party during a press conference late last week for wanting to use the U.S. military to destroy the nation’s powerful multi-billion dollar drug trafficking organizations, which are the most powerful in the world.

WSJ: Bring U.S. Military Capabilities to Bear Against Mexican Drug Cartels

Regarding Mary O’Grady’s column “Bomb Mexico to What End?” (The Americas, March 13): As the sensationalized headline suggests, Ms. O’Grady makes brazen assumptions and straw-man arguments about the position of politicians like me. Instead of addressing the core argument for an authorization of military force (AUMF) against Mexican drug cartels, she sidesteps the issue and counters an argument that no one is actually making: “Bomb Mexico.”

Fox News: Crenshaw fires back at Mexican officials: Living 'rent free' in their heads

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, responded to attacks from Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador after he condemned U.S. Republicans in the wake of four Americans' kidnappings. On "Jesse Watters Primetime," host Jesse Watters played a clip from Obrador's remarks in which he alleged, "one of the coordinators of the Republican Party yesterday raised the issue of an initiative for the armed forces of the United States to intervene in Mexico to combat drug trafficking… "
