Dear John,

Emgage's fight continues into the third year of President Trump's Muslim Ban.

In 2016, then candidate Donald Trump claimed that "Islam hates us," while promising a "complete shutdown of Muslims entering the U.S."

Today marks the third year since he delivered this promise and implemented the Muslim Ban - successfully prohibiting citizens of Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. This policy brought about a storm of protests and condemnation on one side and dangerous Islamophobia on the other.

Our fight thus far to #repealtheban:

Working on Capitol Hill and in-state (TX, FL, PA, VA, MI), our advocacy efforts thus far have led to real progress, including:

  • Over 500 letters sent to Congress, urging officials to sponsor the NO BAN Act.
  • Numerous press conferences and a historic congressional hearing in the House on the Muslim Ban.
  • All democratic representatives in VA, MI, TX, FL, and 8 in PA signing on to the NO BAN Act - aimed at repealing the bigoted Muslim Ban. Click here for a full list of cosponsors.

Our fight in 2020:

Last week, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, President Trump confirmed his plan to expand the Muslim Ban. In response, we plan to fight this administration's crusade against Muslims and immigrants, continue our engagement with your elected officials, and work to increase sponsorship so that we can pass the NO BAN Act in the House in 2020!

What can you do:

In response to this attack on religious freedom, it is the responsibility of every American to become an advocate and engage with their elected officials. Please click our 'Call to Action' link to contact your representatives to help us #repealtheban!

"President Trump confirming his intent to expand the Muslim Ban is the greatest threat Muslim Americans face in 2020. Over the past three years, the ban has separated families, promoted divisive rhetoric hostile to Muslims, and irrevocably damaged communities of color from all over the world. The time is now for us to speak out against this threat, engage with our representatives in Congress, and pass the NO BAN Act as it stands." - Wa'el Alzayat, Emgage CEO
