The new building will consist of a two-story community building and will be used for recreation on the first floor and open space, providing a beautiful and functional space for residents and visitors in Laurence Harbor. Metuchen Receives Funding to Upgrade First Responder Dispatch System
I announced this week that Metuchen has been awarded over $300,000 in federal grant funding from the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program. The borough will use the funding to upgrade its communication system with the purchase of portable radio systems that will ensure uniformity with Middlesex County and Rutgers University’s dispatch systems.
This funding ensures these brave individuals have the equipment they need to communicate with other emergency responders seamlessly, which will help save lives during times of crisis. We are thankful for our first responders and their commitment to our community. Read more here
More Federal Funding on the Way to Help with Home Energy Costs
New Jersey will receive an additional $18.9 million for home energy assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which helps families struggling with the costs of home energy bills. As then-Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, I successfully fought for additional LIHEAP funding in the American Rescue Plan as well as a government spending bill and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
This additional funding will help families across New Jersey keep up with their energy bills. I fought hard for this funding because I know working families need relief to make ends meet, and few things are as essential as being able to keep your home warm.
New Jersey to Receive $3 Million to Cut Climate Pollution
New Jersey will receive $3 million to help cut climate pollution and transition to a clean economy. The funding comes from the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program I established in the Inflation Reduction Act.
New Jersey is already working to mitigate the impacts of climate change and has already met its greenhouse gas reduction goal set in 2020 ahead of schedule. The state will use these funds to support its ongoing effort to achieve a low carbon economy and reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050, including expanding clean energy infrastructure and building resilient communities across the state. I’m pleased to see that progress take shape today and will keep working to ensure communities across New Jersey have the necessary resources to fight the climate crisis. Read more here
