John, did you see this?
Five women denied abortion care in Texas sue state over bans. The women were refused abortions despite carrying nonviable pregnancies that posed major risks to their health -- The Guardian
Texas’s extraordinarily cruel and unusual six-week abortion ban supposedly leaves room for exceptions in life-threatening situations, but doesn’t clarify how life-threatening or “serious” the situation must be for treatment.
This reckless politicization of fundamental healthcare puts women’s health at risk in nonviable pregnancies that should have been terminated sooner, forcing some to the edge of death or irreversibly harming them before they could be treated.
John, this lawsuit and its conditions are a stark reminder that the decision to have an abortion should be solely between a patient and their doctor, like any other form of healthcare. Pitch in $10 right now to help us amp up our abortion defenders program in support of organizations fighting for reproductive rights across the country.
