Social media platforms have harmful effects on young children and teenagers.

Hey there --

We know that Big Tech companies like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube addict, exploit, and undermine the health and well-being of children and teens for profit.

But now, it’s clear they know it too.

Shocking new reporting from Bloomberg reveals that Big Tech employees and executives — including Mark Zuckerberg — have been well aware of their harm to kids [1]. As one Meta employee shared, they know their product addicts kids and adults alike to Instagram, saying:

Despite what these companies know, they refuse to act. Disclosures from a new lawsuit reveal that Meta even defunded its mental health team although Mark Zuckerberg was personally warned.

The bottom line: Big Tech has known for years that its platforms are failing users. The companies have failed – or even worse – chosen not to address their problems if it means compromising profits.

We can’t trust these companies to act in good faith, and that’s why we’re working hard in states across the country to pass bipartisan Age Appropriate Design Code bills – amplifying youth stories in Maryland and Minnesota on social media’s impact on their mental health and wellbeing. These bills, modeled after successful legislation in the UK and California, will require online platforms to prioritize young people’s safety and privacy by design and default.

Friend, your support is more crucial than ever. We’re up against some of the most profitable companies in the world. Every contribution helps us expand the operational and paid budgets for our campaigns to introduce legislation at the state and federal level – chip in now to help us expand our resources and pass new legislation to protect young people online.

DONATE NOW

Together, we can create a future for our kids without negative mental health consequences.  We don’t have Big Tech’s money, but support from people like you makes all the difference – chip in to support our work.

Thanks for being with us,
