Legislative Update
Hello Neighbor!
Another busy week at the Capitol!?
Monday was Sovereignty Day.? Leaders from all 11 Indigenous Tribes in Minnesota came to the Capitol to share concerns and hopes for their people and our state.?
Tuesday was MCCL Student Day at the Capitol.? Students in 7th-12th grade gathered to learn about the legislative process and how to advocate for their beliefs when talking with legislators.? It was so inspiring to meet these students.? Seeing our youngest generation getting involved in the fight for life is very encouraging.? It deepens my resolve to do whatever I can to protect the lives of the unborn.?

Wednesday we were blessed to have so many toddlers and preschoolers fill the Capitol Rotunda for ECFE Day!? I believe in giving all children the opportunity for success in education.? Seeing this energetic crew singing and playing was so refreshing!?
Yesterday Republicans tried once again to get the Democrat Majority to pass immediate tax relief for our seniors by suspending the House Rules and voting to eliminate the tax on Social Security.? Our effort failed on partisan lines.? However, we will not stop.? We hear you.? We read your emails.? And we will continue to fight for this much-needed relief.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to be featured on Almanac as they interview a number of my new colleagues in the House of Representatives. Check out this video and hear my story on why on ran for office. I look forward to continuing to represent our district at the State Capitol
Committee Work
My Education Committees have been very busy!? Last Friday was the deadline for policy bills.? The committee deadline for finance bills is quickly approaching.? The Democrats are fervently scheduling extra committee sessions and pushing through as many spending bills as they possibly can right now.? $17.5 Billion in state surplus is a lot of money and Democrats seem set on spending it all.?

Yesterday in Education Policy, we were blessed to hear from Dora Zaidenweber, a Holocaust survivor. She testified in favor of a bill we were hearing that would require Holocaust and genocide education for middle school and high school students.? She was so brave as she recalled her experience of being a teenage girl from Poland during the Nazi invasion of her country.? It was truly an honor to be in her presence.
Legislative Work
Yesterday, I was so excited to receive a final draft of a bill that I have been working on.? It is a bill that would require legislative approval for all bureaucratic rule-making.? This would make unelected, governor-appointed boards more accountable to ?We The People?.?

Looking Ahead
On Monday, March 20, 2023, we will hear HF366, a bill that would make Minnesota a Sanctuary State for women (and girls) seeking abortions from other states.? I am a proud, pro-life legislator.? And I will strongly oppose this legislation.
In District
Friday I will be in St. Paul for extra scheduled committee hearings.? However, I will still be able to call in to give my (almost) weekly Legislative Update on the Coffeetime Radio Show with De La Hunt Broadcasting in Park Rapids at 9:30a.? On Sunday, I am looking forward to attending the Lake Shore Conservation Club Dinner.?
Thank you all so much for your emails, phone calls, letters and prayers!? I truly am blessed to serve as a Representative for such amazing people!
