Legislative Town Hall This Weekend

I will be holding a legislative town hall *this Saturday, March 18th* at the Creekside Community Center at 10:30 a.m. I enjoy hearing from my constituents, and I would love to see you there. ?

Developmental Screening

Every Minnesota public school student goes through a developmental screening prior or soon after enrolling in kindergarten. This screening looks at things like physical wellness, immunizations, potential learning disabilities, and more. This screening is vital to making sure our students are provided the tools and resources to succeed. ??

When it comes to things like learning disabilities, the earlier the issue is identified, the sooner our children can receive the help and programming they need. This week, I introduced legislation [ [link removed] ] to provide better State funding for the program so that districts can continue to screen kids early. This way, we can put them on their best learning path as soon as possible. ??

I?m proud to carry this bill so we can give our best to our littlest Minnesotans. ??

Establishing the Department of Children, Youth, and Families

My colleague Rep. Pinto is authoring an exciting bill [ [link removed] ] to establish a new state agency, the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. I was proud to sign on as a co-author. Add that this is an exciting opportunity to streamline and better manage services that are critical to Minnesota kids and families, and to better prioritize them.?

The bill is currently making its way through committee hearings, and I can?t wait to vote for it on the House Floor.?
