THE WEEK'S BIG 3
A new initiative launched this week by the Anti-Defamation League and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Abu Dhabi seeks to promote region-wide coexistence and opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration and education. Hate crimes in the United States surged 11.6% in 2021, with the largest number motivated by bias against Black people, followed by crimes targeting victims for ethnicity, sexuality and religion, the FBI said in an updated report released on Monday. Americans who hold antisemitic beliefs are significantly more likely to believe in conspiracy theories, according to a new ADL study released on Friday.
Read on for more on these headlines, news you can use to fight hate and the latest info about ADL from around the country.

With antisemitic incidents up across the board in nearly every category we track, and @FBI data now reflecting a 19.6% increase in reported antisemitic hate crimes for 2021, a whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach is needed to address these extremely disturbing trends.

New ADL Analysis Shows That Those Who Believe in Conspiracy Theories are More Likely to Hold Antisemitic Beliefs
“This connection between antisemitism and conspiracy theories is particularly seen with the Great Replacement Theory, the white nationalist conspiracy theory that ethnic white people are being intentionally and systematically replaced by non-white people. The survey found that people who “strongly agree” or “agree” with the central tenet of the Great Replacement Theory also endorsed six or more statements from the ADL’s antisemitism index.” eJewish Philanthropy:

Thinking of the 8 people murdered two years ago in a spree of misogynist, anti-AAPI shootings in Atlanta, GA. We must speak out against the rhetoric that animates violent misogyny and anti-AAPI hate, alongside @taaforg & our AAPI partners. May the victims' memories be a blessing.

Today, we remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg on what would have been her 90th birthday. The first female Jewish Supreme Court justice, #RBG was a staunch advocate for gender equality, a proud Jew, and a skillful and courageous jurist. May her memory continue to be a blessing.
