Governor Holcomb’s Next Level Agenda is moving on to the next level!
We came out of the gate strong on the first half of the legislative session.
Here are a few of our top highlights:
ON SCHOOL SAFETY
House Bill 1492 PASSED the House.
This bill will increase our state's investment in local school safety grant programs for public, private, and charter schools.
Not only does it increase funding for school resource officers, but it also expands the scope of funding to enable cutting-edge new strategies for improving school safety. This includes digital mapping of floor plans that can be shared with first responders, multi-disciplinary threat assessments, and technology to detect fire, chemical, visual and audible threats.
Governor Holcomb believes that we don’t have a day, dollar, or life to waste when it comes to our state’s public health programs. That’s why this bill transforms the delivery of public health services by partnering with willing counties and deploying stable, recurring, and accessible funding locally tailored to meet local needs.
This bill establishes the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The Library will be a tool to improve childhood literacy throughout the state by providing an opportunity for all 400,000 Indiana children, ages birth through five, to receive monthly mailings of free, age-appropriate, high-quality books so long as the parents opt-in through their local affiliate.
