All four Senate plastic bag bills have been moved to the Finance and Appropriations Committee, and they’re all still alive! These bills could be voted on as early as tomorrow at 9 a.m.

It’s time to pick up our phones and call the committee chair, and if your senator is on the committee, call him or her too.

The four bills are

Senator Ebbin’s SB11, which allows localities to tax disposable plastic and paper bags
Our friend Senator Petersen’s SB26, which mandates a tax on disposable plastic bags distributed in the Chesapeake Bay watershed
Senator Favola’s SB193, which allows localities to ban or tax single-use plastic and Styrofoam products
Senator Locke’s SB198, which allows localities to ban single-use plastic bags

Call the Finance and Appropriations Committee chair—Senator Janet Howell—ASAP to express your support for SB11, SB26, SB193, and SB198. And if your senator is on the committee, please call him or her NOW to urge support for these bills!
