Hi John,

Yesterday, our team faced the "coffee can of destiny" and came out #1! You can read Alexandra's letter about how our team managed to secure our place at the top of the ballot below. But first, we need to pass around a coffee can of our own . . .

Can you chip in a few bucks 🫙 now and help power our team across the finish line?

Hi John,

Being an athlete, my game days are riddled with superstitions and rituals . . . I have a lucky hair tie, a lucky sports bra, I eat the same breakfast, and I run through the same warm up every game.

If a member of my team is taking a penalty kick (a "PK"), I turn my back and don’t watch.

If a shot on my team’s net bounces off the post, I make sure I go over and kiss the post after the game.

These are just the things I have to do so my team wins the game 🤷‍♀️.

In Philly, there’s a long-time tradition of determining a candidate’s ballot position from a coffee can.

It's random — but hey, that's Philly politics for you. And every election, candidates go in person and pull their own number from the "coffee can of destiny" to determine where they'll land on the ballot.

But last night, my superstition creeped up on me and told me that I had to be facing away from the PK if I wanted our team to score.

So I didn't draw my own ballot position out of a coffee can, instead a civil servant unaffiliated with our campaign pulled it for me.

And we got #1.

Ballot position is crucial in Philadelphia elections, especially for an underdog running against the machine. We’ve just been given a helping hand with this ballot position. But that also means the machine is going to come down even harder on our campaign — and we need you to be part of our team.

Will you give a $25 contribution to our campaign today so that we come in #1 for our election in May?

It’s crunch time, baby.

Candidate for Philly City Controller

P.S. Here's the video of how our team drew #1 from Philly's "coffee can of destiny." I hope you take a moment to watch it, and then — if you think Team Hunt deserves to stay at #1, please share this far and wide.

Now, Alexandra's running to be the Philly's next City Controller because the people in Philly work too hard for too little. And right now, line items in budgets create lines for food and health care. It's time to elect a City Controller who is going to prioritize the needs of the communities Philly's money comes from.
